Who Are Baggywrinkles?

Alyssa - Founder and CEO

Alyssa started sailing over 20 years ago when she met her husband, a professional skipper, on the foredeck of a mutual friends yacht on the River Tamar.

Alyssa and her husband sailed off into the sunset on their own boat after their wedding in Cawsand, South East Cornwall. They returned 2 years later having crossed the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and the South Pacific Ocean, ending up in New Zealand.

Many years of cruising the coasts of Devon, Cornwall, France and the Isles of Scilly brought newer boats that increased in size along with the family.

Many boats later, Alyssa, her husband, and her 3 children (The Crew) took a year out and sailed their family vessel “Moonlighting” - A Crossbow 40 - to the Caribbean and back. Luckily The Crew gained a love of all things sailing as much as their parents…

There have been no mutinies to date.

Having downsized to a Westerly Corsair the adventures continue more locally (for now….), The Isles of Scilly and Brittany being our favourite summer haunts.

Taking the leap to retrain and make her passion for boats her living, Alyssa undertook a short sailmakers course at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis. She has worked for local Sail Lofts, which she adored - learning new skills every day.

“Baggywrinkles” is her own small, local, Cornish side hustle nestled in the Tamar Valley between the Devon and Cornwall cliffs effecting repairs on any and all outdoor gear.

Alyssa also works for the NHS - so if you do make contact, please bare with….!
